Zocor Side Effects Can Be Quite Serious...Are You At Risk?

You might not be aware of the potential Zocor side effects, as doctors more often than not won't discuss them with you before prescribing this cholesterol lowering drug. It's not that they are unwilling, but most patients won't even ask. And that's the main problem.

We all just assume that if our doctor is prescribing something, it must be OK to take. This is just reinforced by the fact that so many other people are taking the same medications. Everyone's on cholesterol medications...so why not me?

There's a simple reason why not...because they can cause some really serious health complications. And there are some very effective natural alternatives that won't cause any side effects at all. Read on to learn about potential adverse reactions from taking these drugs.

Possible Side Effects of Zocor

It's important to understand that while a drug is acting to make a change in your body, in this case lowering cholesterol production, it is disrupting the way your body normally functions. So while it may accomplish the goal of decreasing bad cholesterol, it can, and does, create a host of problems at the same time. That's why every single drug causes at least some side effects.

A mild headache or an occasional upset stomach is something most of us can deal with. But many drugs, including statins, can cause many more serious health problems...and even death.

According to USA Today, a consumer watchdog group called Public Citizen "linked 72 fatal and 772 non-fatal cases of muscle breakdown, known as rhabdomyolysis, to all six of the statins sold between October 1997 and December 2000." The study found 29 earlier deaths.

It has been known from very early on that statin drugs can cause liver problems. On the actual Zocor web site it clearly states "ZOCOR is a prescription medicine and isn't right for everyone, including...anyone with liver problems " and "Your doctor may do blood tests before and during treatment with ZOCOR to check for liver problems."

It is obvious from these statements that Zocor side effects may include liver difficulties.

Another one of the possible Zocor side effects is muscle pain. Again from the actual Zocor web site: "Unexplained muscle pain or weakness could be a sign of a rare but serious side effect and should be reported to your doctor right away."

Zocor side effects could also include sexual dysfunction.

**2012 UPDATE** In March of 2012 the FDA warned that interactions between statins and HIV/hep C drugs cause an increased risk of muscle problems. Early last year the FDA announced that the highest approved dose given of Zocor, 80mg, also poses a higher risk of myopathy. There are studies linking statins to lung disease, tendon ruptures and other problems as well.

A Natural Alternative to Cholesterol Lowering Drugs - Avoid the possible Zocor side effects

Fortunately, there is a natural alternative to Zocor. The best part about it is there are no known side effects and some studies have shown its ingredients to outperform statins. So you can avoid possible complications.

The cholesterol lowering formula costs a lot less than prescription medications. In hundreds of professional clinical trials the ingredients have outperformed statin drugs in lowering overall cholesterol. Also, its ingredients have been proven to be better than the statin drugs in raising HDL, the good cholesterol.

The natural product contains a synergistic balance of proven cholesterol lowering nutrients, along with ingredients to strengthen the heart muscle and the immune system.

Following are the active ingredients of this natural alternative to statins:

Policosanol - An extract from sugar cane which has been through more trials than most pharmaceutical drugs. It has been proven to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol as well as increase HDL (good) cholesterol.

Co-Enzyme Q10 - A vitamin-like substance found naturally in the body that helps strengthen the heart muscle. Co-Enzyme Q10 levels are actually DEPLETED by statin drugs, making them counterproductive!

Guggulipid Extract - An ancient Indian herb that has been shown to lower serum cholesterol as well as lower triglycerides, something that statin drugs don’t do. High triglyceride levels thicken your blood which could lead to blockage, a precursor of heart disease and stroke.

Tumeric Extract - An anti-inflammatory liver protectant that may help lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Green Tea Extract - A powerful antioxidant, green tea has been shown to lower LDL cholesterol as well as help fight off disease and cancer.

This special cholesterol lowering formula also has other vitamins, minerals and nutrients to help lower cholesterol, protect and strengthen the heart and promote general health and well-being.

Several of our editors as well as our visitors have had success with the cholesterol lowering formula. A member of our staff started taking the cholesterol lowering formula to avoid the possible problems. He has not experienced any side effects at all, and has been happy with the results.

As with all health supplements, results vary from person to person so be sure to consult your physician or qualified medical professional before taking any natural alternative to help lower your LDL levels.
