Does Hydroxycut Work and Are There Any Side Effects to Consider?

For many people, weight loss is a struggle. If you have tried exercise and eating healthy, but are still having difficulties with losing weight, you may be tempted to try a weight loss supplement, such as Hydroxycut.

As one of the most heavily promoted diet supplements, Hydroxycut is often recommended as a fast and easy way to lose weight. But although it does contain some potentially beneficial herbal extracts, there are some potential side effects to content with.

Hydroxycut is a weight loss supplement manufactured by MuscleTech, which is a sports nutrition company that sells products like creatine and protein that are marketed primarily towards athletes and bodybuilders. It is a thermogenic compound, which means it helps burn fat by increasing your metabolism.

Does Hydroxycut work? Although it does have weight loss advantages, the big question is if it is safe. The first step in determining this is to know what the ingredients are in the product and unfortunately, this isn't easy with Hydroxycut. The ingredients have been changed several times and there are multiple versions of this product, each of which contain a variety of ingredients.

Let's see what our Hydroxycut reviews show...

Potential Positives:

A primary advantage to taking Hydroxycut is it may help increase your metabolism, which allows you to lose excess fat. Hydroxycut contains both laboratory-made and natural ingredients, including lady's mantle extract, wild olive leaf extract, komijn seed and wild mint leaf extract, all of which are beneficial for increasing energy and stamina.

Other benefits associated with Hydroxycut include:

* Increased energy and stamina

* Acts as a diuretic to promote water loss

* Decreased appetite

Potential Negatives:

Despite its weight-loss capabilities, Hydroxycut also has a number of disadvantages. The primary disadvantage being the potential for serious adverse effects many people experience when taking Hydroxycut.

Hydroxycut supplements contain a significant amount of caffeine, which can pose a serious health risk for those who are sensitive to caffeine or those who have been diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Some of the common side effects associated with Hydroxycut include:

* Increased heart rate

* Increased blood pressure

* Headache

* Dizziness

* Anxiety

* Insomnia

* Restlessness

* Loss of appetite

* Nausea

* Vomiting

* Seizures

Fortunately most of these side effects are only temporary and will stop once your body adjusts to the supplements. However, in some situations, people have experienced serious health problems when taking the supplement.

In one report, a man developed ulcerative colitis on two separate occasions, each time after taking the supplement “Hydroxycut Hardcore X”. The man’s symptoms did not improve even after stopping the supplement and he eventually had to undergo a surgical procedure to remove a portion of his colon.

Another case involved a woman who was diagnosed with “cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome”, which occurs when arteries in the brain get constricted. The result of cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome is severe headaches and neurological problems. The cause is typically the result of excess adrenaline and/or serotonin (a chemical neurotransmitter). This womans' symptoms were resolved once she stopped taking the supplement.

The FDA has recalled several varieties of the product due to unsafe results and serious side effects. If you are considering taking Hydroxycut for weight loss, it is important to understand the risks and talk with your physician before using it.
