Supplements for Candida Treatment Can Make a Difference

Fortunately for sufferers there are supplements for candida, a condition that was first identified in the 1983 book by Dr. John Parks Trowbridge, The Yeast Syndrome.

Many doctors don't agree with a candida diagnosis, which is best described as a body poisoning emanating from your intestines and then circulating through your body. It makes you feel bad all over because yeast emits toxins and enzymes that circulate in your blood. The condition causes the destruction of immune system cells, making it much more difficult for you to get rid of a yeast infection.

Antibiotics are cited as a culprit in the candida literature, killing off the good intestinal bacteria and making room for yeast to grow. High sugar or carbohydrate diets are also mentioned, as they provide yeast with the ingredients to grow quickly.

So what are the available treatment options?

Candida treatment is difficult but there are many herbal supplements available. Some of the ingredients you may find are caprylic acid, propionic acid, sorbic acid, Echinacea angustifolia root, oregano, garlic, pau d’arco, selenium and zinc. They usually come in capsule form and are taken with meals.

High potency garlic is another of the candida remedies. The tablet doesn’t break down until it reaches the small intestine, so you get the benefits of garlic without the odor. Tests have shown garlic pills are not as effective. High potency garlic is promoted as a benefit to circulation, digestion and the immune system, among other therapeutic properties.

Pau D’Arco immune bark is another candida treatment. It comes from a tree growing in Argentina and Brazil that does not produce fungus, like those surrounding it in the wild. It contains a chemical compound known as lapachol, which is believed to strengthen the immune system.

Other supplements that bolster the immune system include caprylimune, flax seed oil, liquid chlorophyll, psyllium fiber supplement, proactazyme plus plant enzymes and bifidophilus flora sauce. These candida remedies are recommended during your body's detoxification treatment period.

Anything else that can help?

You should eat a healthy diet containing lots of fruits and vegetables, and avoid an excess of sugar and carbohydrates while taking supplements to maximize your results. That means avoiding most baked goods, sweets and sodas as well as starchy pasta and potatoes.

Also, many people have had success with special programs such as Yeast Infection No More which offers a non conventional way to quickly and safely treat a candida problem.

Regardless of what route you choose, talk to your doctor first so he or she can help guide you to the right decision.  Sometimes supplements are all you need, and sometimes other approaches are more effective.
