American Ginseng Powder

Wild American Ginseng Root

American ginseng powder is an extract of the ginseng root, a member of the class of herbs called adaptogenic herbs.

Also known as the wild American ginseng root, the extract has the ability to help the body adapt to stress, improve performance, increase energy and facilitate recuperation from illness.

What is American Ginseng?

Native to the northeastern region of the United States, the wild American ginseng root, known as Quinquefolius, grows in damp woodlands.

The active ingredient of American ginseng is called ginsenoside, which is where the powerful therapeutic value lies.

American Ginseng Powder....the best tonic?

There are two other main varieties of ginseng in addition to American ginseng. There is Asian ginseng, also known as Panax, and there is Siberian ginseng.

Although wild American ginseng root extract is the most popular ginseng in the United States, it is also the least researched of all three varieties.

American ginseng powder and Asian ginseng powder are also very strong, and are not recommended for the elderly or sick individuals.

All varieties of ginseng serve the same purposes, including increasing mental function, boosting immunity, helping the body combat stress, and increasing energy.

Which of the three ginsengs should you take?

All three ginsengs have their advantages and disadvantages, so this is a decision you have to make on your own.

Siberian ginseng is considered the safest of the three. We have been taking a Natural Energy Bee Pollen product as a natural energizer which contains pure siberian ginseng extract as well as other important vitamins, minerals and amino acids for energy and overall well-being.

American ginseng powder and Asian ginseng are stronger than the Siberian version, and as such could pose health problems to the older people and those weak from illness.

As far as potential side effects are concerned, Asian ginseng (Panax) seems to be the most troublesome, with muscle soreness, increased heart rate, insomnia and dizziness being possible adverse reactions.

Whether you choose wild American ginseng root or another version, please make sure you consult with a physician or other qualified medical professional before you begin supplementation.
