Zocor Side Effects

Possible side effects of Zocor and other cholesterol lowering medications

Zocor side effects are well documented, as are the side effects of many other cholesterol lowering drugs, known as statins. Statins act to lower bad cholesterol levels (LDL) in the body, but the side effects of Zocor and other statins could be very dangerous.

Zocor and other cholesterol lowering medications are heavily promoted in magazines, on radio and on television, leading people to believe that statins are the answer to lowering cholesterol.

The drug companies make billions of dollars from the sale of Zocor and similar medications, with doctors prescribing statins not only for people with high cholesterol but also for healthy individuals.

So everybody makes money off of these drugs...but at what price?

Possible Side Effects of Zocor and Other Statin Drugs

Side effects of cholesterol lowering drugs have been known for a long time. In addition to the headache, nausea, fever and other possible Zocor side effects that are common to most medications, there are several possible more serious ones.

An FDA approved statin called Baycol was pulled off the market due to deaths and other serious side effects.

According to USA Today, a consumer watchdog group called Public Citizen "linked 72 fatal and 772 non-fatal cases of muscle breakdown, known as rhabdomyolysis, to all six of the statins sold between October 1997 and December 2000." The study found 29 earlier deaths.

It has been known from very early on that statin drugs can cause liver problems. On the actual Zocor web site it clearly states "ZOCOR is a prescription medicine and isn’t right for everyone, including...anyone with liver problems " and "Your doctor may do blood tests before and during treatment with ZOCOR to check for liver problems."

It is obvious from these statements that Zocor side effects may include liver difficulties.

Another one of the possible Zocor side effects is muscle pain. Again from the actual Zocor web site: "Unexplained muscle pain or weakness could be a sign of a rare but serious side effect and should be reported to your doctor right away."

Zocor side effects could also include sexual dysfunction.

According to the February 1st, 2002 issue of the Wall Street Health Journal, memory loss, personality change and irritability have also been reported as side effects of statin drugs.

The National Institute of Health has instituted an independent study to examine Zicor side effects and side effects of other statin drugs. They hope to complete their study by 2004, at which time the truth will hopefully come out. Until then, millions of people will suffer the side effects of Zocor and other statin drugs.

A Natural Alternative to Cholesterol Lowering Drugs - Avoid the possible Zocor side effects

Fortunately, there is a natural alternative to Zocor. The best part about it is there are no known side effects and some studies have shown its ingredients to outperform statins. So you can avoid possible Zocor side effects.

The cholesterol lowering formula costs a lot less than prescription medications. In hundreds of professional clinical trials the ingredients have outperformed statin drugs in lowering overall cholesterol. Also, its ingredients have been proven to be better than the statin drugs in raising HDL, the good cholesterol.

The natural product contains a synergistic balance of proven cholesterol lowering nutrients, along with ingredients to strengthen the heart muscle and the immune system.

Following are the active ingredients of this natural alternative to statins:

Policosanol – An extract from sugar cane which has been through more trials than most pharmaceutical drugs. It has been proven to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol as well as increase HDL (good) cholesterol.

Co-Enzyme Q10 - A vitamin-like substance found naturally in the body that helps strengthen the heart muscle. Co-Enzyme Q10 levels are actually DEPLETED by statin drugs, making them counterproductive!

Guggulipid Extract - An ancient Indian herb that has been shown to lower serum cholesterol as well as lower triglycerides, something that statin drugs don’t do. High triglyceride levels thicken your blood which could lead to blockage, a precursor of heart disease and stroke.

Tumeric Extract - An anti-inflammatory liver protectant that may help lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Green Tea Extract - A powerful antioxidant, green tea has been shown to lower LDL cholesterol as well as help fight off disease and cancer.

This special cholesterol lowering formula also has other vitamins, minerals and nutrients to help lower cholesterol, protect and strengthen the heart and promote general health and well-being.
