The Dangers of Tenuate Diet Pills for Losing Excess Pounds

Tenuate diet pills are a weight loss option designed particularly to address the unique problems of weight loss in women.  Because women’s bodies tend to develop and store fat differently than men’s, weight loss can be much more difficult in women.  In those cases where regular diet and exercise alone has not proven effective, your doctor may prescribe Tenuate.

This medication, also called sympathomimetic amine, is a stimulant, similar to amphetamines, and should only be taken when prescribed by a doctor.  It is generally prescribed for a short amount of time and should never be used any longer than necessary as this increases the risk of serious side effects.

Let's take a closer look to discover why this might not be your best choice...

How Effective is Tenuate?

Tenuate is designed to suppress hunger and it achieves this end by stimulating the nervous system.  As a result, there can be noticeable side effects and there is also the risk of developing addictive behavior in response to taking the pill.

Stopping use too quickly, especially if you have been taking it for quite some time, can also lead to withdrawal symptoms.

Interestingly, the use of Tenuate has shown limited effectiveness, in most cases individuals can expect to lose one to two pounds per week when the medication is combined with a regular diet and exercise program.  The average monthly weight loss is around four pounds per month.

If you think about it, that's not much different than not taking the pill at all.  You can very easily lose four pounds in a month with even the most basic eating and exercise plan.  Taking a pill to lose a single pound in a week is just ridiculous in our opinion.

Potential Side Effects of Tenuate

While there is little evidence of the results of Tenuate diet pills, what is known for sure are the potentially serious side effects of this medication.   The most benign side effects include dizziness, dry mouth, difficulty sleeping, irritability, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation.

Because Tenuate is a stimulant, it can also have more severe side effects such as increasing the blood pressure and disrupting the heart rate.  Symptoms such as irregular heart rhythm, mood swings, agitation, hallucinations, nervousness, uncontrolled muscle movements and changes in sexual ability/interest should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Prolonged use of Tenuate can cause serious heart or lung problems, which is why most doctors only prescribe it to be taken over very short periods of time.  If you do experience any serious side effects, you should consult your doctor before stopping the use of Tenuate.  It is much safer to stop usage slowly and gradually rather than stopping it immediately, as this can cause symptoms of withdrawal and/or addiction.

With all of these potential side effects of Tenuate, and the fact that results are unproven, why would someone ever take this medication?  It doesn't make sense when best case scenario you lose  a measly 4 pounds in a month.  Ridiculous, especially since there are much safer options that can help you lose at least that much.

So what's the bottom line here?

While many women are desperate to lose weight, that doesn’t mean that every potential weight loss solution is worth the risk.  Tenuate can have very dangerous effects on the body and that can lead to conditions much worse than carrying a few extra pounds.

Rather than expose your body to the potential damage caused by a stimulant diet pill like this, it is much smarter and safer to lose weight naturally.

Even though engaging in a program that includes a balanced diet and exercise may take longer to produce results, it is guaranteed to be much healthier in the long run.  If you absolutely need something to boost your diet and exercise regimen, there are all-natural alternatives that you can turn to which are far safer, like garcinia cambogia, green tea and green coffee extract.

Don't subject yourself to the dangers of medications like Tenuate diet pills unless you absolutely have to.  And we really don't see a scenario when this particular pill would be the best choice.
