South Beach Diet Reviews
What is the South Beach Diet?
The South Beach Diet is one of the latest and most popular of the so-called fad diets. South Beach Diet reviews illustrate that it borrows some of its recommendations from both the Atkins Diet and The Zone Diet, and could be a viable solution to the weight loss problem.
What is the South Beach Diet?
The South Beach Diet was developed by a cardiologist in Florida by the name of Arthur Agatston, originally for his patients to maintain heart health. It blossomed into a full fledge diet craze, with varying opinions as to its merits.
In a nutshell, the South Beach Diet is a three stage diet, laid out as follows:
1) Phase 1 is the most difficult stage, in that it completely restricts carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, potatoes, baked goods, etc. for a period of 14 days. You also can't have cookies, cakes, ice cream or sugar. Alcohol is also off limits. The initial phase is also marked by portion control, limiting you to certain portion sizes.
2) Phase 2 starts reintroducing some of the carbs you had to give up during Phase 1, not all. Portion control remains the focus of this stage, which you remain in until you reach your desired weight.
3) Phase 3 last the rest of your life (if you make it to this stage). It is a life-long diet stressing smaller portions, certain carbs and certain fats. It does not rule out carbohydrates and fats, but rather tells you which ones you can eat and which ones to avoid.
South Beach Diet Reviews - Should you go on the South Beach Diet?
Of all of the new "low-carb" diets, the South Beach Diet seems to be the best option, as it offers a well-balanced diet with all of the nutrients you need. It appears to be safer than Atkins and the Zone, as those diets are very restricting.
Although dieting in general isn't the best thing for your health, if you can stick with it the
South Beach Diet
can definitely help you lose unwanted pounds. It offers a sensible way to eat that will definitely reduce fat and improve your overall health.
It is important to remember that your body is used to your particular eating habits, and has developed certain mechanisms to efficiently break down the food you eat into usable energy.
Once you start dieting, your body must readjust itself to fit your new eating regimen. This creates additional internal stress, so each time you go off and on diets you are literally throwing your body into a tailspin.
South Beach Diet reviews illustrate that the best way to avoid any problems is to stick with the diet for as long as you can.
Don't look at it as if you are dieting but rather changing your eating habits for the better.
